it's possible
War replacement system is in the making

Donna Howard-Hastings gives one of her peace cranes to a child who
has just been taken on a tour on the USS Clark, a navy
recruitment warship targeting all children with a snazzy culture of
hightech death.  Earlier this day, August 7, at an armed flag
ceremony, the mayor of Duluth welcomed the ship and denounced
the peace vigilers.

Mel Duncan and David Hartsough have written the paper we've been waiting for. Based on ideas generated during a series of six meetings of nonviolent activists at The Hague in May, it describes the intended creation of an international standing peace force trained in nonviolent strategies and deployed to conflicts or potentially violent areas. It will take a lot of time, energy, money, and faith. Yours?

If you are interested in reading the paper, contacting Mel & David, a discussion group in your area, etc., please call, write, or e-mail Donna at Laurentian Shield.
