The authors joined the campaign of For Mother Earth and the Flemish section of War Resisters International to denounce illegal storage of weapons of mass-destruction. They expect Belgian initiatives for an international conference leading to a treaty banning all nuclear weapons. A new citizens inspection of the base is scheduled for October 1.
The campaign has been successful in receiving objective media coverage informing a growing part of the Belgian public about the secret and illegal deployment of 10 B-61 US nuclear warheads. Peace campaigners are also planning a series of non-violent Ploughshares disarmament actions invoking international law at the base of Kleine Brogel.
