October action at ELF

Duluth MN & Clam Lake WI-9 & 10 October:

Invoking the memories of St. Francis of Assisi and Larry Cloud Morgan, the members of Loaves and Fishes offered study, meditation, and action in October. In Duluth on Saturday, workshops were highlighted by keynote speaker Claire Evans, sharing the experiences and theory of her work with Christian Peacemaker Teams.

Sunday, a silent meditation and blessing bowl ritual took place outside the gate of the ELF command base while eight resisters entered the base and came back out with little pink slips. One of those arrested was 79 years old-Fern Arpi of Virginia MN. A handmade bowl full of blessings written by those present was left inside for the personnel.

Molly Mechtenberg was declared the 500th arrest at the Wisconsin ELF site since the current campaign began in 1991, for which she was rewarded with a pack of gum and a court date.
