We provide a stable, healthy, safe, quiet, drug and alcohol free, transitional living situation for homeless men.
Each of the homeless men may stay for an open ended length of stay according to their needs, determined by the Catholic Worker community. Each guest accepts the invitation to live in this home with others with responsibility of maintaining order and respect and following the rules of the community.

Community Vision: We are seeking new Community Members to offer Hospitality for Homeless Men ( 5) and share faith and life in a 3+ Bedroom House, with Living room, dining room, chapel space and office space and full basement ( possible bedroom) and garden.

Looking for 2 single Men or 2 single Women or combination.
The space is limited and some community members may share a room with another homeless guest.

Personal gifts and strengths:
Cooking ability (or eagerness to learn)
Ability to supervise guests and maintain loving order and
Maintain rules of the community.
Ability to say “No” when necessary, and work out solutions
in a nonviolent way.
Ability to encourage cooperation among conflicting guests at
times.
Ability to work with mental illness in guests.
Ability to enforce the rules of the community and possibly ask
a guest to seek another place to live, if necessary.
Ability to work at community building and consensus.
Ability to share your personal vision, and prayer life with others

Living the CW is at personal sacrifice and a sharing of life together.

Talents needed:
Prayerful/Nonviolent Spirit, Pioneering attitude and challenge to create a new community; interested in prayer and Catholic Worker spirituality;
Ability to laugh and have fun as often as necessary.
Creating Clarification gatherings and Thursday Nite Liturgy Gatherings;
Periodic Nonviolent witness at OFFUT AFB/ Home of Stratcom.

One does not need to be Catholic, but it helps. This is a Christian faith and spirituality based community trying to live the teachings and gospel of Jesus the Nonviolent Christ, and do the Works of Mercy and Resistance of Evil.

Part time Jobs outside of community life are available.
Part time classes at Creighton University or UNO are a possibility as well. Flexible options are available. Talk to us.

Free room and Board in exchange of a singular commitment to being here at the OCW.
This community has been started by the generous help of the Jesuits at Creighton University, Holy Family Church (6 blocks from the house) and various generous and committed Catholics in Omaha. Come stay with us and visit. 1-3 months initial period of invitation.
