Thanks
for the Phone Call
Dear Friends of the Omaha
Catholic Worker,
This afternoon I got a call from a Catholic member of a parish in Papillion,
NE. He was not happy with the Catholic Worker pacifict position on War, and
inquired about it more. I tried to the best of my ability to share with him
some of my personal thoughts as a Catholic Worker and a pacifist. I also explained
that there is more information available about the history of Dorothy Day and
Peter Maurin and the Catholic Worker movement at :
www.catholicworker.org this is a
huge wealth of information
and www.catholicworker.com
our web site is at: Omaha Catholic Worker
www.no-nukes.org/omahacw
There are 2 positions that the Catholic Church contentiously hold about War,
that is the just war theory and also the other is pacifism or nonviolence. Both
of these are valid and true, when put into practice in the modern day of nuclear
weapons and the 21st century.
I am thankful for that persons call. He said that he did not agree with my position.
I am thankful that he called and asked several questions, some I hope I was
able to answer to the best of my ability.
He was passionate and maybe even angry. That's okay. It is the people that are
apathetic, and don't even care to ask a question, that are much more bothersome.
He was neither bothersome, or rude, but caring enough to call and question.
That in itself is worth being thankful for .
Thanks for calling.
