Dear Friends of the Omaha Catholic Worker, Greetings to you in this Season of Advent. It is almost Christmas. We are having a Christmas Party Potluck on Saturday Dec 23rd at 6:00 pm and on. All are invited. Come Celebrate the Joy of Christmas. Come to sing and Eat and Play cards and anything else we want to do. The party begins with you. We invite you also to consider joining us and the Des Moines Catholic Worker Community for the Annual Holy Innocents Gathering Peace Witness Retreat at OFFUTT AFB, home of "Stratcom". We gather at St. John's Church at Creighton University in the basement, starting with a Christmas Party at 7 pm on Dec 26th Tuesday evening. Bring some food to share if you'd like. Sleeping bag space is plentiful. If you need a bed, please contact us very soon. Our retreat will last 3 days and most of the activities will be at St. John's Church basement. There are legal activities at Offut AFB, i.e. Reading of Mathew's Birth Narrative on Wednesday morning, and also a possible Line Crossing at the Base on Thursday by some, but not all, participant, at 11:00 am. We have a legal permit to be there, granted by the City of Bellevue. If you have any further questions about this exciting annual event, please give us a call at 402- 502- 5887. During the days you can reach Jerry Ebner at 402- 670-3745 (cell). We at the OCW have indeed been blessed with many gifts. We have presently 2 guests and now 3 Community members. We look forward to seeing you for the possibility of sharing Eucharist with us at our Mass and Potluck nites. Our next Mass and Potluck will be Dec 28th Thursday @ 6 PM, the Feast of the Holy Innocents. Parking is available in the back of the house and next door. "All are welcome" I am searching out possible places to speak about the OCW and the wider Catholic Worker Movement. If you are part of a parish, congregation, civic group, temple, mosque, please consider having me speak at your gathering, in the hopes of gaining volunteers and some fundraising as well. If you are interested in
becoming a volunteer at the OCW, we especially could use you from 2- 6 pm and
from 6- 10 pm any night. We ask that all those considering a volunteer idea
with us to come over for dinner and meet us and talk about this opportunity
over dinner. Jesus met many people, rich and poor, and dined with them all at
the dinner table. We try to do the same here as well. -Jerry Ebner, Joe Mehalovich,
